ARTS AND CRAFTS: Kids' Craftroom Redo on the Cheap (part 2)

Last time I posted about this project, I had just painted all of the walls in (FREE) white paint, gathered from a friend's house...
Seeing the room as a blank canvas gave me the idea to keep that theme for the kids. I would do most of the room in white with some black outlines, and they could use the entire space as a coloring book, when we weren't doing other activities.

I started with one of the blank walls, the only one that was drywall and not concrete.
I picked up some supplies from my local fabric and craft store:
(1) Dry Erase Poster Board
Roll of blackboard paper
Roll of black corrugated bulletin board trim
Dry erase markers
Chalk
Adhesive velcro
3 pack of Jumbo Permanent Markers
Glue

When all was said and done, I probably spent about $15 for all of those supplies

I had some large pieces of cardboard that I used as a base. I cut the dry erase poster board in half to make 2 drawing areas (no need to expect a 2 y/o and 4 y/o to share space), glued this to the cardboard and cut the cardboard to leave a border around it. I framed out the drawing space with the corrugated trim and the dry erase boards were done.

For the black board, I used the entire roll of blackboard paper (there wasn't much)
I glued that to the cardboard and trimmed it out as well.

I secured all three boards to the blank wall at an appropriate height and drew hangers and nails to make it look more "artsy". The sticky back velcro was used to mount the dry erase markers around the boards.

Finally, I free handed an "Art Studio" sign on the wall with the permanent markers...

Not a bad $15 investment
